Credit English as a Second Language (ESL)
Our goal is to help students from different language and cultural backgrounds to achieve their academic and career goals by giving a solid foundation in academic English skills. Our mission is to help you develop the necessary skills and knowledge that will enable you to be successful in your future academic and career plans. We offer a friendly classroom atmosphere with classes taught by professional, caring and enthusiastic faculty.
Our main focus is to help you quickly and confidently progress to E.S.L. 110, our transfer-level English composition course that is the same as ENG101.
The Credit ESL Program offers courses designed for students whose primary language is not English and are studying at LAVC in order to earn a degree or professional certificate, or transfer to another college or university to get a degree or professional certificate. These courses prepare non-native speakers with classes in grammar and writing, reading and vocabulary, and listening and speaking skills from the intermediate to the advanced levels.
